My mate Dick Moffat is over from Canada at the end of October.
He asked me to ask if anyone fancied meeting up for a drink at some point over the weekend of 28-30 October?
I’m not sure where I will be that weekend. But if there is an sensible way I can get to London, I will.
I guess the easiest way to organise it is to leave a note on his blog if you fancy a little office related socialising.
cheers

Thanx Marcus … that’d be great. I will be in touch.
Simon…. thanx for this note. I wish you could be there for a few Pints but it’s a pretty long commute from Switzerland. Some day I’ll get there and we’ll have a fondue instead :-).

It would likely be Thu/Fri for people who work in the City for lunch or after work before heading out for home I guess.
Will be in touch.

Sounds like a great opportunity to talk Dan Hicks with Dick. I will certainly try to be there. If Marcus turns up I can ask him why he didn’t reply to my email :)

Cool Bob …. lookign forward to it.
Thursday, 7th October, 2010 at 9:37 am |
@Dick – any idea what date this will be, need to schedule if I can make it.
Thursday, 7th October, 2010 at 3:44 pm |
Thnax for the “ping” on this Bob. Time is advancing on isn’t it?
The date will be Thursday Oct 28th around 6pm.
I would appreciate if any locals could suggest a sensibly priced, typically English locale anywhere that would make sense in London that the maximum number of people would be able to reach relatively easily :-). I can get anywhere …
Any ideas?

Good, 30th was a no-no for me, but 28th should be good. Whereabouts will you be staying Dick?

“Good, 30th was a no-no for me, but 28th should be good. Whereabouts will you be staying Dick?”
Don’t know yet for the 28th and 29th. Will be staying downtown somewhere – maybe under a bridge (??)
Any suggestions – Clean and not outrageously priced?

You are leaving it late Dick, the price goes up nearer the date. You could try Travelodge, nothing to write home about, but clean and can be reasonable, I am seeing about £20o for those to nights at the moment..
Sunday, 10th October, 2010 at 10:17 am |
Which email was that, Bob? I obviously missed it – sorry. Send it again.
“sensibly priced”

Ah, well, there’s the thorny bit. Aside from price, probably something along the Central line b/w Nottinghill Gate and Liverpool street is going to be reasonably accessible for most:
I’m working in Marylebone at the moment. Happy with anything but Canary Wharf.

Marcus:
Yes that looks like a good area – Central..
If anyone knows a place on that line – a Pub preferrably :-) .. Just nominate it and we’ll meet there.
Thanx Marcus.

I was going to suggest the White Lion near Covent Garden http://tinyurl.com/252wow8, Notting Hill is a tad out of the way for me.
Sunday, 10th October, 2010 at 5:58 pm
BTW, The White Lion does Jaipur IPA.
Sunday, 10th October, 2010 at 6:36 pm
Jaipur IPA looks AWESOME !! I love me some India Pale Ale and some “Traditional” English Curry too….
I’m going to arbitrarily announce here and now that I will be at the White Lion Inn near Covent Garden at 6 pm Thu Oct 28th.

Dick
p.s. Bob & Marcus both have to be there so the official un-besmirching can be toasted with some JaiPpur IPA :-)
Sunday, 10th October, 2010 at 6:00 pm |
Marcus, I think I picked on the wrong guy, it was a few months ago now, but in recollection it was probably Mike (Woodhouse). Apologies for besmirching your good name :)
Sunday, 10th October, 2010 at 8:44 pm |
“‘Traditional’ English Curry”
I’m sorry; isn’t that an oxymoron?
Bob; apology accepted (although I’m sure there’s a pint in there somewhere).
Simon: I’ve now officially been in this country for 3 years (as at 1st Oct). I’ve sure it’s about time we actually MET. No excuses! :P
Thursday, 21st October, 2010 at 10:17 am |
Marcus, and In that time I have lived and worked in half a dozen countries. And am now languishing in sunny Switzerland. Which is my excuse…
And dont worry about Bob – he never replies to my emails – talk about pot, kettle, black etc…
Monday, 11th October, 2010 at 10:21 am |
Now we have a rally point I will annouce my intention to attend :)
